Don treanáil inniú thosaigh mé an céad seisiúin le 15 nóimead de síniú agus obair croíleacán, ansin rinne mé tuairim is 40 nóimead de obair camán in éadan an balla agus roinnt scaoileamh. Chríochnaigh mé le 15 nóiméad sa gym ag déanamh tarraingtí suas le 15 kg breise, ró-béal-faoi, agus brú tromán lúith. Mothaigh na cosa rud beag fadalach agus trom ach is dóiche go bhfuil mé fós ag teacht chugaim féin tar éis an direadh seachtaine.
Um thránóna bhí seisiúin agam leis an fhoireann sa chumann. Rinne muid tuairim is uair an chloig de drilleanna fisiciúla, go fórmhór rith, le 15 nóimead de iomáint ag an deireadh. Arís bhí na cosa rud beag trom ach bhí an iarracht s'agam go maith. Fuair mé suathaireacht roimhe agus chuidigh sin leis na géaga íochtar!Fuar muid an sceideal coicíse inniú. Tá cluiche again ar an 13ú Márta agus an 16ú Márta mar sin tá seachtain crua treanála ós mo chomhair roimh ullmhú do na cluichí sin.
Luaigh roinnt de na leaids gur bhásaigh rí na hiomána Christy Ring 30 blian ó shin an tseachtain seo...cótharliúint é gur thosaigh mé ag léamh a leabhir inniú mar sin! Coinnigh mé sibh ar an eolas faoi píosaí suimiúila sa leabhair...bfhéidir go piocfaidh mé suas roinnt dá sáineolas!
Mar focail scoir, bhí léigh mé cúpla rud ar na mallaibh a bhí ag cur ina léith go raibh buntáistí ag baint le réim bí gan feoil agus tairgí ainmhithe. I measc na haltanna, bhí an ceann seo ar suíomh cointianta tógáil meácháin (nasc thíos), agus leabhir de chuid Dan Millman a mholl Eamonn Mór dom a léamh, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, agus Body Mind Mastery (scoth leabhair dála an scéal!). Mar sin tá sé socraithe agam trial a bhaint as ar feabh cúpla seachtain. Dheirfinn gurb é an fhadhb is mó a bhéas agam na déanamh cinnte go bhfaigheam na mianraí cosúil le protein agus calciam a bheadh in feol agus bainne. Den chuid is mó as seo amach beidh mé ag ithe pónairí, glasraí, píseana, agus a léithidí. Tá sé ar intinn agam roinnt comhairle a fháil ón bhean sa siopa sláinte in aice liom maidir leis na bí is fearr do na mianraí atá de dhíth orm. Coinnigh mé ar an eolas sibh! Tá sé mall....oíche mhaith!
For training today i started off the first session with 15 minutes of core work, followed by abiut 40 minutes of stick work againt the wall with some shooting. I finished with 15 minutes in the gym doing pull ups with an extra 15 kg, dumbell presses and prone rows. My legs felt a bit heavy but i suppose im still recovering from the weekend.#
In the afternoon I had a session with the team up in the club. We did about an hour of physical drills, mostly running, with 15 minutes hurling at the end. Again the legs were a bit slow but my effort was good. I go a massage beforehand and that helped the lower limbs. We got our schedule for the next couple of weeks. We have a game on the 13th and 16th of March so i can train hard for a week before preparing for those games.
Some of the lads mentioned that the hurling king Christy Ring is dead 30 years this week. A coincidence that i started reading his book today. Ill keep you posted on how the book goes....maybe i will pick up some of his genius!
Finally, I have recently read that vegetarian diets may have something good to offewr the sports person. Amons the bits ive read are an article form a popular weight training site (link above), and two boos by Dan Millman reccommended by my good friend Eamonn Mór, The way of the Peaceful Warrior, and Body Mind Mastery (great books by the way). So I am going to give it a try for a few weeks and see how it goes. My biggest problem will be getting the nutrients like protein and calcium that I would usually get from meat and milk. I will be mostly eating beans, legumes, grains, and veg. I will get some advice from the lady at the local health food shop as well I will keep yiz posted! Its late...good night!
